CHARLOTTE, Vt. - The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is notifying anglers and recreational boaters that the Converse Bay Access Area (locally known as Cedar Beach) on Lake Champlain in Charlotte has reopened following a reconstruction project that began in early August.
“We’re excited to let recreationalists know that the Converse Bay Fishing Access Area is now open again for use, and that the facility has been significantly improved to meet environmental and ADA standards, and also allow for improved boat launching and more organized access and parking,” said Mike Wichrowski, facility and lands administrator with Vermont Fish & Wildlife.
The improved access area features a longer and deeper launch ramp, ADA accessible parking, and a path down to the launch ramp and dock area. Additionally, green infrastructure upgrades were completed to reduce storm water run-off into the lake from the access area.
“Our goal for the project was to make the access area safer and more user-friendly, while protecting water quality,” said Wichrowski. “This is a key facility for outdoor enthusiasts looking to access the middle section of Lake Champlain, and we hope that the improvements will make this access area more user-friendly moving forward.”
