April 13, 2021 - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is holding a series of introductory bullhead fishing clinics this spring.
These clinics are open to people of all ages and levels of experience, including those who are completely new to fishing. Participants will learn about aquatic ecology, fishing regulations and techniques, fish identification, and much more.
April 12, 2021 – One of the state’s premier wildlife watching opportunities is taking place in Vermont. The steelhead rainbow trout have started their upstream migration, leaping up waterfalls in a spectacular display of determination on their way to their spawning grounds.
Steelhead can be spotted moving up the falls during these warmer days in mid-to-late April and sometimes into early May.
March 29, 2021– The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR) and its partners remind hikers of mud season at this time of year and ask for the public’s help protecting Vermont’s trails. This year, COVID-19 is still a dominant concern, even with more people vaccinated. FPR and partners are asking for the public’s assistance with making smart choices to protect both public health and trails during this vulnerable time.
March 26, 2021 – The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) invites the public to join the next Clean Water Series talk on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. The talk will highlight wetland conservation and is part of a monthly virtual series featuring efforts to protect and restore water quality in Vermont.
March 22, 2021 – The Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today that Nationstar Mortgage LLC d/b/a Mr. Cooper was fined $13,500 for violating Vermont waste management regulations after failing to promptly remove trash and other waste that was accumulating on a property it owned in West Fairlee.
March 17, 2021 The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is seeking volunteers to become ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ instructors to pass on Vermont’s fishing tradition to the next generation of Vermonters. The department will be hosting a one-day training workshop for new instructors on Saturday, April 17 at the Edward F. Kehoe Conservation Camp in Castleton, VT.
