MONTPELIER – Hitting the road this month is a brand-new bulk pellet delivery truck for Vermont Renewable Fuels (VRF). The 2017 Kenworth capable of hauling 16-tons of pellets with fully pneumatic delivery system was funded in part by a $94,000 grant from the Vermont Clean Energy Development Fund (CEDF).
BENNINGTON - Municipal waterline construction has begun in the Town of Bennington and the Village of North Bennington. Water service will be extended to properties with on-site wells contaminated or threatened by perfluooctanoic acid (PFOA) in the area where the State of Vermont and Saint-Gobain have settled Saint-Gobain’s liability. Saint-Gobain is also continuing an investigation of the affected properties east of Route 7 with oversight from the Agency of Natural Resources.
The Clean Water Fund Board is holding a third public comment period before finalizing its fiscal year 2019 budget recommendation. This public comment period only focuses on $2.3 million additional bond premium funds, made available by Vermont's sale of general obligation bonds. The Board is proposing to support innovative projects with these funds, summarized in Table 10 of the draft Vermont Clean Water Fund fiscal year 2019 budget.

Despite the Scott Administration’s commitment to restoring Vermont’s waterways and funding clean water initiatives, recent news stories have contained inaccurate information and given the false impression that we’re decelerating our efforts. This is simply not the case.
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC) announced a series of measures aimed at improving compliance with the State’s environmental laws and rules that permit and monitor development, to protect the health of Vermonters and Vermont’s natural resources.
Today, the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (AAFM) announced a suite of projects aimed at protecting and restoring the Lake Carmi watershed. The Lake Carmi Implementation Team will lead the coordination of these projects and provide regular updates to the community.
The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be promoting Septic Smart Week and will encourage homeowners and communities to learn more about and properly maintain their septic systems. Governor Scott signed a formal proclamation to declare September 18-22 Septic-Smart Week in Vermont.
The Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation (FPR) recently welcomed a new staff member, Emma Hanson, who will serve as Wood Energy Coordinator. She will be tasked with helping to implement the Vermont Comprehensive Energy Plan’s goal of doubling wood fuel’s share of building heating by 2035. Achieving this goal will help in reducing the State’s dependence on imported heating oil and support forest landowners by providing markets for the products of forest management.
