Would you like to help the Vermont DEC Wetlands Program map wetlands throughout the state? There is now a way to send us on-the-ground data on wetlands you discover, using your smartphone (or a GPS and camera) and the free iNaturalist citizen science app. This training will offer a quick overview of how to use the iNaturalist app and how specifically to collect data we can use to map wetlands.

We will include information about wetland delineations, application submittals, and presumptive wetland data submittal. Join the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds (FOVLAP) and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) on the shores of Lake Morey next month to celebrate Vermont’s lakes and ponds and meet other lake enthusiasts. The all-day seminar will be Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee. The public is encouraged to attend.
This year’s theme focuses on how scientists translate research into tangible actions individuals and communities can take to sustain healthy lakes and ponds.
At the 2019 Vermont Organics Recycling Summit on April 11 in Randolph, leaders and learners from across the state will come together to discuss creative ways to keep food scraps and other organics out of the trash and to transform them into valuable products. The summit, organized by the Composting Association of Vermont (CAV) and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, is open to all.

ADDISON, Vt. – Vermonters are invited to learn about how citizen science is employed to help with wildlife conservation in Vermont on Thursday, April 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area Conference Room in Addison, Vermont. This ‘Citizen Science 101’ presentation is free and open to the public and is limited to the first 50 people who register via email.
