MONTPELIER, Vt. - Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Julie Moore will host a public gathering in Montpelier on February 26 to discuss a variety of environmental topics. Secretary Moore will kick off the meeting with a conversation about electric vehicles (EV) in Vermont. Peter Walke, Deputy Secretary for the Agency of Natural Resources, will talk about the state’s plan to invest $2.4 million in EV charging infrastructure as well as Governor Scott’s EV incentive, which would provide $1.5 million in rebates to purchase or lease new or used EVs.
“These forums are an excellent opportunity to have conversations with Vermonters about pressing environmental issues,” said Secretary Moore. “One of the most critical issues is climate change, including steps we can take to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The state’s transportation sector is the single greatest contributor of GHGs, responsible for more than 40% of our emissions. Next week’s meeting will be a time to talk together about this and other environmental issues.”
After an initial discussion on EVs, Secretary Moore will open the floor to the public to hear thoughts, ideas, questions and concerns about Vermont’s natural world – from land and water to plants and wildlife. The gathering will be held in the Dewey Building at 1 National Life Drive in Montpelier on February 26 from 4:00-5:00 pm.
