Land and Water Conservation Study Stakeholder Meeting

Section 9 of Act 76 of 2019 (formerly known as S.96) requires the Agency of Natural Resources to convene a stakeholder group in order to recommend a framework for statewide land conservation to the General Assembly. Specifically, the framework is to consider:

  • Recommendations for maximizing both water quality benefits and other state priorities from land conservation projects, including agricultural uses, natural area and headwaters protection, flood and climate resilience, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, and rural community development; and
  • Opportunities to leverage federal and other non-state funds for conservation projects.

In response to this direction, there will be a stakeholder meeting to discuss the draft scope and receive input and feedback on Friday, September 6, from 9-11am in the Montpelier Room at the offices of the Agency of Natural Resources on the National Life campus in Montpelier.  If you plan to attend, security personnel will need a photo id in order to allow you access to the buliding.
