What’s On Your Mind? Vermont’s Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Invites You to Share your Thoughts and Ideas in Montpelier on April 24

MONTPELIER –As part of an ongoing community series, Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) Secretary Julie Moore will host a conversation on April 24th in Montpelier. The series, Tell Me More with Secretary Moore, is a chance for the public to hear from and talk directly with the Secretary and Agency staff about environmental issues that are top of mind for many Vermonters. At next week’s discussion, Secretary Moore will be joined by Becca Washburn, Director of Lands Administration & Recreation for ANR’s Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. Together, they will lead a conversation on the Agency’s role in long-term, responsible stewardship of public lands.

“These conversations are a great way for us to share updates about the Agency’s work and listen the public’s ideas and concerns. I’d like to hear about the environmental topics and issues that are top-of-mind for people in a variety of backgrounds, sectors, and towns. While the upcoming conversation on April 24th focuses on long-range management plans, it’s not limited to this topic. Bring your questions and thoughts on this or other topics,” said Secretary Moore.

The conversation next Tuesday will focus on the purpose and process behind the Agency’s long-range management planning. The Agency manages approximately 475,000 acres of land, or 8 percent of Vermont’s land base. Long-range management plans are drafted and reassessed periodically with collaboration among agency experts and public input and represent an important framework for providing responsible stewardship of public land.  Please visit http://fpr.vermont.gov/state_lands/management_planning if you’re interested in learning more including current opportunities for public input.

The Tell Me More series started one year after the Agency’s 2017 Listening Tour, when Secretary Moore traveled to towns across the state to hear more about environmental matters. Wanting to continue these conversations, Secretary Moore began holding bimonthly gatherings in February 2018.
