MONTPELIER, Vt. - On Tuesday, September 25th from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) Secretary Julie Moore will host a gathering in Montpelier to discuss natural resource issues. The meeting will begin with a conversation on the effects of drought in Vermont. Currently, 74% of Vermont is experiencing a drought, with 8% of the state in severe drought. State Geologist Marjorie Gale will dig into the science of drought. Jessica Neiles, a hydrology program manager for NOAA, will talk about the weather events that led to a drought and the outlook for the next few months.
This gathering is part of the ongoing community series Tell Me More with Secretary Moore. The series is a way for the Secretary to hear the public’s thoughts, ideas, questions and concerns about Vermont’s natural world – from its land and water to its plants and wildlife. While the meeting on September 25th will begin with a conversation about drought in Vermont, it will not be limited to this topic. The Secretary invites the public to come with any questions and comments they may have about Vermont’s environment.
The gathering will be held in the Dewey Building at 1 National Life Drive in Montpelier. For anyone unable to make it in person, a virtual meeting link is available.
