State Offers Free Workshop to Help Businesses Reduce Carbon Footprint

Montpelier, Vt. – To protect worker safety and improve the value of Vermont’s recyclables, the Agency of Natural Resources has launched a campaign to reduce recycling contamination. The Agency worked with Chittenden Solid Waste District and Casella Waste Systems to identify the top four contaminants at their recycling facilities and created advertisements to let people know these items don’t belong in blue recycling bins: plastic bags, batteries and electronics, food-contaminated recyclables, and scrap metal.

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Hunters are gearing up for the start of Vermont’s traditionally popular 16-day rifle deer season that begins Saturday, November 10 and ends Sunday, November 25.
A hunter may take one buck during this season with at least one antler having two or more points one inch or longer. A point must be one inch or longer from base to tip. The main beam counts as a point, regardless of length. Spike-antlered deer, mostly yearlings, are protected during this season.

Johnson, Vt. – This fall, two streams in Mt. Mansfield State Forest were restored thanks to a Vermont Ecosystem Restoration Program (ERP) grant. A 30-year old culvert was removed and replaced with a wooden bridge along Boulley Brook and a series of culverts were replaced along Jacob Brook.

MONTPELIER, Vt. - Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Julie Moore will host a gathering in Montpelier to discuss a variety of environmental topics on Tuesday, November 27th. The conversation will start with a discussion on invasive species in Vermont. Secretary Moore will then open the floor to the public, inviting them to share thoughts, ideas, questions and concerns about Vermont’s natural world – from land and water to plants and wildlife.
