Public Hearing on Vermont's Deer and Moose population

Hunters, landowners and anyone else interested in deer and moose should plan on attending one of the Vermont Fish & Wildlife public hearings being held in March and May. 

The hearings will include results of Vermont’s 2017 deer and moose seasons and prospects for hunting next fall as well as an opportunity for people to provide their observations and opinions regarding deer and moose. 

The hearings will also include a review of the proposed 2018 moose hunting season and an opportunity for the public to comment.

One year ago, Secretary Moore set out on a listening tour, traveling to towns across the state to hear directly from Vermonters about the challenges surrounding the management of our natural resources and possible solutions.
 
This year, Secretary Moore is taking these conversations a step further by hosting a series of open forums focusing on specific topics that are top-of-mind for many Vermonters right now, including clean water, the long-range management of state lands, and the health of Vermont’s moose herd.

Public Discussion on Baitfish Regulations

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is hosting a public discussion sessions on Vermont’s fishing regulations. Department officials are hoping to engage anglers in a discussion and gather public opinion on the state’s baitfish rules. 

This will be a working session, with information presented on the regulation, followed by breakout groups where people will have the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences.

Habitat and Forestry Management in Weathersfield

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation are hosting an event in Weathersfield on December 7 for landowners interested in improving wildlife habitat and forest health on their property.

The event begins with a talk at the Weathersfield Town Hall in the village of Ascutney on Thursday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
