As summer camping season arrives, visitors to Vermont should be prepared to buy firewood in-state or be able to verify that imported firewood is heat-treated to USDA-approved standards.

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Hiking Vermont’s hillsides is a great way to enjoy a spring day, but the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and Audubon Vermont recommend you check to see if the area you’re planning to hike or climb is open. Several cliff areas are currently closed to protect nesting peregrine falcons.
The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (VTFPR) has awarded $586,764 to fifteen significant trail projects. This funding, available through state and federal funds in the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), will go towards maintaining and building public trails all over Vermont.

The Clean Water Fund Board will meet on Friday, April 8, at 1:00 PM at the Agency of Transportation 5th Floor Board Room in the Davis Building at the National Life complex in Montpelier. The public is invited to attend.
The recent passage of Act 64, the Vermont Clean Water Act, is a game-changer for Vermont, providing additional tools and resources to support comprehensive water quality planning and remediation. The Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) will take steps towards developing concrete plan for each of Vermont’s watersheds to effectively direct all available resources towards reducing pollution in rivers, streams, ponds and lakes.
Hunters, landowners and anyone else interested in Vermont’s wildlife should plan on attending one of the three events hosted by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department this month.
